On this date in 1879 Margaret Sanger, Reproductive and Women's Rights advocate, was born in New York State. Sanger was the founder of the American Birth Control League (which later became Planned Parenthood.
Sanger remained a controversial figure her entire life but she did a lot of good, much of which still exists. (Thanks to Tom Smith for the reminder.
